A brand new event from the World Series of Poker at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino will begin today, Event #47: $5,000 Freezeout (8-Handed) No-Limit Hold'em.

Day 1 of this three-day tournament will begin at 3 p.m. local time. Players will begin with 50,000 in chips and will play 15 levels consisting of 40 minutes each. Blinds will start at 100/200/200.

Late registration is available through Level 12, which is estimated to be at about midnight. There will also be a 15-minute break every three levels of play.

This is a freezeout event so players will have just one shot to run up their stack and claim the golden bracelet that awaits the winner. It is sure to attract a mix of some of the biggest names in poker, as well as some unknowns.

Players who bag and tag at the end of the night will return tomorrow, Monday, October 25th at 2 p.m. and will play until there are five players remaining.

Kornuth fired again on the {a-Spades} turn with a bet of 400, which his opponent called. Kornuth then check-folded on the {k-Spades} river when his opponent bet 700.

Newey Takes from Negreanu

Paul Newey opened on the button to 600 and Daniel Negreanu called from the small blind.

On the {k-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{3-Clubs} flop, Negreanu check-called a bet of 700 from Newey.

Both players checked on the {q-Spades} turn and saw the {4-Spades} river. Negreanu check-called a bet of 1200 from Newey and Newey turned over {j-Clubs}{10-Hearts}.

"Straight," asked Negreanu? "Good thing I checked the turn."

Daniel Negreanu on the button opened to 500 and Sam Grafton in the small blind called, as did the player in the big blind.

All three players checked on the flop of {7-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}, and Grafton led out with a bet of 600 on the {4-Hearts} turn. The player in the big blind raised to 2,200 and Negreanu and Grafton both folded.
