Girish Apte raised to 275,000 from the hijack and Craig Mason three-bet to 700,000 from the button. The blinds quickly folded but Apte made the call.

The flop came {5-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}{j-Clubs}, Apte continued with a bet of 575,000 which Mason called.

The turn was the {10-Diamonds} and Apte opted to check. Mason fired out a bet of 650,000. Apte took some time and then decided to shove with the bigger stack. Mason snap-called.

Craig Mason: {5-Hearts}{5-Clubs}
Girish Apte: {a-Hearts}{q-Spades}

Apte had flopped top pair and turned the gutshot to a Broadway but Mason had hit a set.

The river completed the board with the {k-Diamonds} for Apte to hit the Broadway indeed. The stacks were counted again to be sure but Mason had 2,195,000 behind while Apte had 2,795,000 in front of him.

Mason was eliminated as the first player of the day while Apte claimed the chip lead to his name.
