Sladek Set Up by Paston's Snowmen

Level 28 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante
Todd Sladek
Todd Sladek

Action folded around to Todd "Chi.T.420" Sladek who raised all in for 183,061 from the cutoff and Matthew "trsttheprcss" Paston called from the button.

Todd "Chi.T.420" Sladek: {k-Hearts}{q-Clubs}
Matthew "trsttheprcss" Paston: {8-Spades}{8-Diamonds}

Sladek was behind holding two overs and a king did appear in the window on the {8-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{k-Spades} flop but an eight was hiding underneath.

The {3-Diamonds} turn was no help to Sladek as it left him drawing dead to the {10-Diamonds} river.

Welch Couldn't Get Lucky

Level 27 : 6,000/12,000, 1,500 ante

Carlos "CarlosWelch" Welch open-jammed under the gun for 43,147, Guy "PhilLaak" Dunlap jammed over the top for 199,712 from late position and Daniel "Texasdp" Parshall isolated from the cutoff.

Guy "PhilLaak" Dunlap: {a-Clubs}{j-Clubs}
Daniel "Texasdp" Parshall: {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts}
Carlos "CarlosWelch" Welch: {a-Diamonds}{7-Spades}

The {10-Spades}{a-Spades}{k-Spades} flop was a good one as it kept Parshall in the lead with top two-pair while giving Dunlap a Broadway draw and Welch the spade flush draw.

The {q-Clubs} turn completed Broadway for Dunlap and Welch needed a spade to fall on the river to survive but the {8-Clubs} appeared, ending his tournament in 102nd place for $1,400.

"CasualCarl" Takes Out Geary

Level 27 : 6,000/12,000, 1,500 ante

"CasualCarl" raised to 22,444 from early position. The player next to act called. Justin "Haunted" Geary jammed all in for 111,434 from the big blind, "CasualCarl" re-jammed and the third player folded.

"CasualCarl" had the {9-Spades}{9-Clubs} vs the {a-Diamonds}{k-Spades} of Geary.

The flop came the {10-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{5-Spades}, the turn was the {j-Hearts} to give Geary more outs but the river was the {3-Clubs} to eliminate him while "CasualCarl" added more to their big stack.

WSOP Legend: 10-Time Bracelet Winner Phil Ivey

Level 26 : 5,000/10,000, 1,250 ante
WSOP Legend Phil Ivey
WSOP Legend Phil Ivey

Few poker players have captured the attention of the poker universe quite like Phil Ivey. There have been plenty of champions of the game who crushed it at the felt, but none who built up the mystique of Ivey, who remains to this day arguably the most magnetic player in poker despite results that no longer match his days of utmost dominance.

A day after the anniversary of Ivey's induction into the Poker Hall of Fame, PokerNews examines the legacy of his WSOP success. Prior to 2000, Ivey didn't have any recorded WSOP cashes.

The 23-year-old didn't waste any time establishing himself as one of the top up-and-coming players. That year, after already making one final table and finishing fifth, Ivey secured his first bracelet. He beat none other than fellow Hall of Famer Amarillo Slim Preston heads up to win Event #14: $2,500 Pot-Limit Omaha, a rebuy event, for his first bracelet and $195,000. Three other Hall of Famers — Chris Bjorin, Phil Hellmuth and David "Devilfish" Ulliott — also competed at that final table, so shipping it was about more than just getting his first taste of gold. Ivey showed he could beat the best in the business.

Two years after that, though, would be when Ivey really showed he was the present and future of the game. In 2002, Ivey showcased his skills at limit poker in a big way.
