Two Back-to-Back Hands With Ace-Queen Ends Affleck's Tournament

Level 17 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
Matt Affleck
Matt Affleck

Matt "Nitr0" Affleck raised from the hijack and then called the 18,592 three-bet jam "ChunkysHere" made on the button.

"ChunkysHere": {k-Clubs}{k-Spades}
Matt "Nitr0" Affleck: {a-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}

Affleck was behind needing an ace but none appeared on the {5-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} runout and he was left with just 5,515.

The very next hand, Affleck open-jammed from late position and Brett "Beeznutz22" Rubin called from the button.

Affleck held a dominating {a-Hearts}{q-Hearts} to Rubin's {a-Spades}{6-Spades} but Rubin flopped a six and eliminated Affleck from the tournament.

Ye "yuan365" Yuan Looking to Close the Series With WSOP Gold

Level 17 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
Ye Yuan
Ye Yuan

Ye "yuan365" Yuan, also known as Tony Yuan, has a tiny amount of cashes on his Hendon Mob profile, with just $6,774 in career tournament earnings outside of one particularly big outlier. Yuan, a Ph.D Candidate of Mathematics and Probability at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, overcame the odds and made the final table of the 2020 WSOP $10,000 Main Event, after pushing through a field of 705 entrants.

“I still can’t believe it." Yuan told PokerNews about his run to the final table. "I don’t know how I made it, but someone I did. I was quite lucky to have some big hands. I won a coinflip when short-stacked with pocket nines against my opponent’s ace-jack offsuit." Yuan also was confident in the transition to the live final table, as opposed to online, saying, "I’m a live guy. I think my live play is better than my online play. I can read people.”

Yuan finally succumbed in fifth-place, losing a flip with ace-ten to the pocket fours of Joseph Hebert, but the $286,963 payday certainly helped put a big dent in his college tuition. Now, with another summer of online events waiting, Yuan will be looking to make another deep today after notching two final tables already this series.

Bad Turn Ended Wachel's Tournament

Level 16 : 600/1,200, 150 ante

A series of preflop raises saw Matthew "bizpoker18" Beier four-bet jam under the gun for 49,413 and Steven "MuddaFudda" Wachel called off his 37,164 stack from the small blind.

Matthew "bizpoker18" Beier: {a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}
Steven "MuddaFudda" Wachel: {k-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}

Wachel was ahead with his pair of kings and nothing changed after the {2-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{10-Spades} flop appeared.

The {a-Spades} turn however, paired Beier's aces and the {9-Hearts} river ended Wachel's tournament.

Bryan "Pellepelle" Piccioli Going For Third Bracelet

Level 15 : 500/1,000, 125 ante
Bryan Piccioli
Bryan Piccioli

Former WSOP November Niner and WSOP Gold Bracelet winner Bryan "Pellepelle" Piccioli spent his time in the 2020 WSOP Online Bracelet Series getting his grind on, and the sheer volume of results for Piccioli, who sports over $4.5 million in lifetime Hendon Mob reported earnings, speaks for itself.

Piccioli started his WSOP Online series with the WSOP.com series, and recorded a staggering 14 cashes during the 31-event series. He netted an eleventh-place finish in Event #29: $2,000 NLH Deepstack for $15,612, and followed that up with a deep run in the final event, Event #31: $1,000 NLH Championship, finishing in twenty-seventh place for $9,897.

The next month, during the GGPoker portion of the WSOP Online, Piccioli added six more cashes to his resume, including another deep run in Event #77: $5,000 NLH Main Event. Piccioli managed to navigate his way to a twenty-third place finish in the event that was eventually won by Stoyan Madanzhiev, and for that deep run, Piccioli added another $79,625 to his account.

Can Piccioli top last year's impressive run of 14 cashes in this year's WSOP.com Online Bracelet Series? Well, he already secured his second career bracelet in Event#12: $500 NLH Turbo Deebstack and is in action today with hopes at making another run for a third.
