Donabedian Crumbles to Dust

With blinds at 400/800/100, Andrew "PintoPedro" Donabedian opened under the gun for 1,775 and only Craig "imgrinding" Varnell called from the button to see a {a-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{8-Clubs} flop.

Donabedian continued for 1,975 and then called Varnell's raise of 6,725 to see the {6-Spades} appear on the turn.

Donabedian check-raised Varnell's 14,250 bet to 40,000 and Varnell moved all in for 65,580.

Donabedian called and both players rolled over their hands.

Craig "imgrinding" Varnell: {9-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}
Andrew "PintoPedro" Donabedian: {8-Diamonds}{8-Spades}

Both players flopped a set but Varnell held the better hand and the {3-Spades} didn't change a thing as he doubled through Donabedian, leaving him with just 4,032 which was gone the very next hand.

Grizzle Stays Alive

Sam Grizzle
Sam Grizzle

With the blinds at 250/500/60, action folded around to "6EQUJ5" in the small blind and they raised to 1,000. Sam "texasmolly" Grizzle was in the big and jammed for 3,053 total, which "6EQUJ5" called.

Sam "texasmolly" Grizzle: {j-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}
"6EQUJ5": {a-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}

Grizzle was behind but not after the {k-Spades}{k-Diamonds}{j-Hearts} gave him two pair. Neither the {10-Clubs} turn nor {7-Spades} river knocked the grizzled veteran out of the lead and he shipped the double.

"Beastro" Looking to Claim Bracelet for New Jersey Contingent

John Hinds
John Hinds

While the summer is usually reserved for players coming into Vegas for the World Series of Poker, one of the benefits of the online events is that players from New Jersey can participate without having to travel across the country.

One such player is John Allan Hinds, who is playing from the Garden State under the screenname “Beastro.”

Hinds is a poker pro with $691,665 in live tournament earnings, including a career-best $262,574 for finishing 20th in the 2015 WSOP Main Event. In 2012, he won a WPT Borgata Poker Open $400 side event for $68,871, and in 2017 also cashed the WSOP Main Event finishing in 255th place for $40,181.

All told, Hinds has 24 WSOP-related cashes totaling $427,491, though he’s still in search of his first victory. He came close last month with five WSOP.com Season Finale Online Circuit cashes – including a sixth-place finish in the $320 Double Stack for $9,174 – but only time will tell if he can get it done here in the July bracelet events.

Thus far he's notched three small cashes in the 2020 WSOP online series, and only time will tell if he can get his fourth tonight.

A Reload for Matt Bode

With the blinds at 160/320/40, Event #4 champ Matt "Bodeyster" Bode raised to 560 from early position and "chuckybrown9" called from the hijack. Dana "marco1399" Marcolongo came along from the small blind, as did Thomas "tdkaces" Kornechuk from the big, and it was four-way action to the {q-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} flop.

Two checks saw Bode continue for 840 and only Kornechuk called to see the {3-Spades} turn. Kornechuk checked, Bode bet 1,120, and Kornechuk woke up with a check-raise to 7,560. Bode called off the 5,752 he had behind and discovered the bad news.

Matt "Bodeyster" Bode: {7-Hearts}{7-Spades}
Thomas "tdkaces" Kornechuk: {6-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}

Bode had flopped a set but it was no good as Kornechuk had turned a straight. Bode could still win on the river if the board paired, but that didn't happen as the {a-Hearts} peeled off.

Bode was felted on the hand but opted to rebuy back up to a fresh 40,000 starting stack.
