Rees Folds Set and Regrets

Level 3 : 200/400, 400 ante

The flop was out and three players were facing {j-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{q-Spades}. Rodney Neubauer checked to Michael Rees who bet 3,000. Harry Arutyunyan flatted behind and Neubauer upped it to 7,000. Rees went into the tank for some time before letting it go and Arutyunyan sized his opponent up before making up the difference.

On to the turn and both players checked the {9-Hearts}. The river was the {2-Spades} and Neubauer check-called Arutyunyan's 5,000 bet but folded when he saw he was up against a straight with {10-Hearts}{8-Hearts}. As Arutyunyan collected the pot, Rees told the table that he'd folded pocket-nines on the flop, which would have made quads on the turn. He did not look pleased and no wonder as he is down to just 20 percent of starting stack.
