Pocket Rockets Propel Smith to an Early Double

Level 2 : 200/300, 300 ante

Jerod Smith was sitting with a pile of chips and shed some light as to how he got them.

As he told it, back in Level 1 the player on the button raised to 700 and Smith three-bet to 2,800 from the small blind. The button called and the flop fell {a-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}. Smith bet 2,500, his opponent raised to 6,000, and Smith made it 15,000 to go.

The button hit the tank before moving all in for 53,000 holding what turned out to be the {a-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} for two pair and Smith snap-called with the {a-Clubs}{a-Spades} for top set. Neither the {9-} turn nor {k-} river changed a thing and Smith doubled in the first level of the WSOP Main Event.
