Several Big Names and Bracelet Hopefuls Converge for Day 2 of Event #82: $1,500 Double Stack No-Limit Hold’em
It’s time for Day 2 of Event #82: $1,500 Double Stack No-Limit Hold’em. A field that was originally 2,589 is now 357 players who will return to the felt in the Amazon room at noon. The remaining players are scheduled to play down to a winner today and the top prize of $530,164.
Two WSOP bracelet winners lead the pack of returning players. Mike Leah returns with an enormous stack of 1,628,000 and Will Givens enters the day 2nd in chips with 1,484,000. Ray Vohra (1,465,000), Kaylan Cheekuri (1,174,000) and Phillip Scaletta (1,169,000) round of the top five chip counts.
In total, nine players enter today with over 1 million in chips, including Greg Raymer who will bring a huge count with him to Day 2 as he bagged 1,030,000 last night.
Several well known stars will return today to contest the big stacks in an attempt to make a deep run in this event. Those of which include; Ismael Bojang (860,000), Valentin Vornicu (748,000), Ryan Laplante (682,000), Gordon Vayo (626,000),) and Joseph Cheong (499,800) and Kristen Bicknell (252,000).
Phil Hellmuth will bring 507,000 chips with him into Day 2 as he looks to add yet another deep run to his WSOP resume in one of his last chances in 2019 to do so.
Play will likely be very fast to begin the day as the money bubble burst shortly before the end of play last night and several short stacks are still hanging on that will surely need to force the action.
Play will resume at noon local time at level 21 with blinds at 8,000/16,000 and a big blind ante of 16,000. Levels will be 40 minutes on Day 2. The plan is to play down to a winner but PokerNews will keep you up to date if any changes to the schedule are made as well as provide all the live updates.
