Hastings Trending Upward

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

Brian Hastings raised to 10,000 from early position and action folded around to Davis Aalvik who defended his big blind. The flop came {10-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{8-Spades} and both players checked.

The turn was {7-Hearts} and both players checked again. The river came {9-Spades}, bringing a straight on the board, and Aalvik checked for a third time. Hastings bet 12,000 and Aalvik thought for a while before announcing that he would fold a straight and asking Hastings if it was a good or bad fold.

"It depends," responded Hastings.

"If it depends, it was probably a good fold," said Aalvik.

"Four-five no good," Hastings said.

Aalvik chuckled a little. "Better than that. Five-six. A nine-high straight," Aalvik responded.

Meanwhile, Hastings is back up over a quarter-million with a stack that is comfortably above the tournament average.
