Hurley Chops With One and Eliminates Another

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 0 ante

Mark Wahba opened the action from under-the-gun with a raise to 10,000 and got four callers, including James Hurley on the button and Luis Velador from his small blind.

On the {2-Clubs}{9-Spades}{5-Spades} flop Velador re-checked his holdings and then moved his short stack into the middle. The big-blind player folded, Wahba made the call, the middle-position player folded and Hurley moved all in. Wahba made the call and created a side pot that was much bigger than the main one.

Luis Velador: {9-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{2-Spades}
Mark Wahba: {a-Clubs}{a-Spades}{k-Spades}{k-Clubs}
James Hurley: {9-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{5-Hearts}

The board ran out {5-Diamonds} on the turn and {10-Spades} on the river, which gave both Velador and Hurley the same full house. The dealer counted down Wahba's and Hurley's stacks and determined that Hurley just had Wahba covered, so Hurley took the big side pot, collected Wahba's bounty chip and split the main pot with Velador.
