Joao Vieira Makes Hero Call in Biggest Pot of the Day

Level 27 : 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante

It all started with a raise from Ankush Mandavia from the button to 180,000 and a three-bet followed by Joao Vieira from the small blind. Big blind Olivier Busquet folded and Mandavia called.

Vieira continued on the {a-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} flop with a bet of 430,000. Mandavia stuck around to see the {q-Diamonds} on the turn and it checked to him this time. He took matters into his own hands when he bet 425,000 on the turn. Vieira check-called on the turn and the {2-Diamonds} completed the board.

Vieira checked again on the river and Mandavia fired a big bet of 1,200,000 with only 275,000 behind. Vieira only had 1,700,000 and this was a big hand for him. He went into the tank for multiple minutes and Barry Hutter, who was seated on another table and who was playing a short stack for a while, went into the tank as well.

Hutter made it clear that it was unfair for him that Vieira went into another long tank while the blinds kept passing him. The clock was called on Hutter and an entire protest started. The clock was eventually called on Vieira as well after he had seven minutes to think about his decision.

Vieira ended up calling and Mandavia showed {10-Clubs}{9-Clubs} for just ten high. Vieira showed {k-Spades}{k-Hearts} for a pair of kings and the best hand.
