Mixing Stud and...Pokemon?

Level 3 : 2,000/4,000, 0 ante

Stud

Bryce Yockey: {x-}{x-} / {j-Spades}{9-Hearts}{a-Clubs} - fold
Dan Smith: {x-}{x-} / {k-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}

In the midst of a discussion between the evolutionary traits of Pokemon between Dan Cates and Bryce Yockey, Yockey completed with the {j-Spades} and Dan Smith made it two bets with the {k-Spades}. Yockey called, then bet fourth street after Smith checked. Yockey called, then gave up on fifth street.

"I think you'd be a Smirtle," Cates told Yockey, who quickly responded with, "What's a Smirtle?"

Large Scoop for Thung

Level 3 : 2,000/4,000, 0 ante

Stud Hi-Lo

There was already a decent-sized pot in the middle on fifth street when Roy Thung led into three opponents, showing open kings.

Roy Thung: {x-}{x-}/{k-Spades}{10-Clubs}{10-Spades}
Brian Rast: {x-}{x-}/{a-Spades}{8-Spades}{9-Spades}
Roman Yitzhaki: {x-}{x-}/{4-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}
Jason Mercier: {x-}{x-}/{10-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}

Rast thought awhile with his three-flush but mucked. Yitzhaki called, Mercier raised and Thung made it three bets. Everyone continued to sixth, with Thung picking up the {3-Hearts} and betting. Yitzhaki called after pairing with the {4-Diamonds} and Mercier called with the {7-Hearts}. On the end, Thung picked up his cards and squeezed them until he saw his new card. He bet again. Yitzhaki folded but Mercier called.

Thung showed {k-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}{3-Spades} for kings full and scooped up the whole pot.
