Esposito Chops Two In a Row

Level 15 : 20,000/40,000, 0 ante

Limit Hold'em

Adam Friedman opened from the hijack at a five-handed table and John Esposito defended from the big blind. The two went heads up to a flop of {a-Clubs}{9-Spades}{8-Clubs}. Esposito check-called Friedman's continuation-bet and the turn came {8-Diamonds}. Both players checked, bringing the river {8-Spades}. Esposito checked and Friedman fired. After some time counting his stack and thinking about his decision, Esposito made the call.

"Nine," Friedman said as he tabled {9-Diamonds}{6-Spades}. Esposito quickly turned over {q-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} to lock in chop number one.

On the very next hand, John Monnette opened from the button and Esposito three-bet in the small blind. Monnette called and the flop came {k-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}. Esposito continued and Monnette called. Both players then checked through the {3-Spades} turn and {4-Spades} river to get to showdown.

Esposito tabled {a-Spades}{j-Spades} and Monnette {a-Clubs}{j-Hearts} and the two chopped up the pot.
