Yu River Check-Raises Melogno on the Bubble

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

This event is not the sort to slow down on the bubble. With one to bust before universal payment, short-stacked and not-so-short players have been all in in abundance.

Aleksandr Shevliakov moved all in when it folded to him preflop, called by Ahsish Ahuja (who made the final table of the PLO/NLH round of each yesterday). His pair of nines held against Ahuja's {a-Hearts}{q-Diamonds} over a {2-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{j-Hearts}{7-Spades} board.

Elsewhere, a pairing river escalated a pot between Ben Yu and Pablo Melogno. The full board: {7-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{10-Hearts}. Yu checked and his opponent bet 23,800 into a pot of around 32,000. Back to Yu, who tanked for a while. A crowd of players circled vulture-like, as play was by now paused on every other table. Yu check-raised to 79,000, indicating pot commitment (he had 88,400). Now a serious tank ensued, Melogno with a tough decision at a crucial juncture of the tournament. Minutes of bubble time ticked away as he considered this move.

He moved all-in. Snap; showdown: Yu tabled {k-Hearts}{10-Clubs} for a full house, while Melogno flashed his cards very quickly. It looked like he'd called with ace-high.
