Mezei Joins Chip Leaders

Level 10 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

Antal Mezei opened preflop to 2,800 and his immediate neighbour repopped it to 8,200 (with about 40,000 behind, a third of Mezei's chips). Mezei made a slow-motion call (though not a tank), then settled in place the darkest of dark glasses.

The flop: {4-Hearts}{a-Hearts}{k-Spades}. Mezei checked and his opponent bet 4,200. Mezei made another deliberate call.

The turn: {3-Hearts}. Mezei now slid out a tower of pink 5,000 chips (a structure very few of the 243 remaining players possess at this stage of the tournament), setting his opponent all-in. He was called, his opponent showing {a-Clubs}{4-Clubs} for a flopped two pair, while Mezei held {9-Hearts}{8-Hearts} for the flush he was representing.

The river was the {j-Clubs} and another player exits in the final level of play today, while Mezei challenges for the lead with 200,000.
