Day 2 of Event #1: $500 Casino Employees Event Will Start at Noon
It's Day 2 of the 50th Annual World Series of Poker and with that, it's time for Day 2 of Event #1: $500 Casino Employees Event. Only 103 players remain out of the 686 entries that were made and they are all in the money at the start of today. All 103 players have secured a cash of at least $727 while the first-place prize stands at $62,345.
Last year the tournament attracted 566 players and that field grew to 686 this year. That resulted in a slightly bigger first-place prize and eighteen more places paid in the tournament. Jordan Hufty won the tournament last year collecting his first gold bracelet. Hufty is not playing Day 2 of this year's event and we will crown a new champion in the event.
The chip lead is in the hands of Cosmo Andoloro. He bagged over 100 big blinds when he ended the day with 650,000 at big blind 6,000 and he has the best starting position on when Day 2 kicks off at noon. Others still in the field include Planet Hollywood dealer Christopher Bowen (633,000), Thunder Valley Poker Room Manager Miguel Cardenas (512,000), Stephanie Otteson (479,000), and Talking Stick Poker Host Brad Helm (465,000). Joining them in Day 2 are WSOP Bracelet winner Jon Freidberg (360,000), Austin Roberts (342,000), who just finished in third place at the Run It Up Reno VIII Main Event, WSOP Poker Editor Isaac Hanson (249,000), and PokerNews Live Reporter Adam Lamers (116,000).
The plan is to play down to the final six today and they will play down to a winner on Day 3. The tournament will start at noon local time and they will continue in the blind level 3,000/6,000 with a big blind ante of 6,000.
PokerNews will be on the floor to report on all the action happening.
