Can Never Be Too Safe

Level 7 : 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante

Matthew Siegal opened to 100,000 from middle position and was called by Phil Ivey in the cutoff, Daniel Negreanu in the small blind, and Bryn Kenney in the big blind. The flop came {j-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{6-Clubs} and the action checked to Ivey who bet 250,000. Negreanu was the only one to call as the {9-Spades} landed on the turn.

Negreanu led out for 250,000 this time and Ivey called to see the {4-Clubs} on the river. Negreanu checked and Ivey checked back. Negreanu flipped over {a-Clubs}{8-Clubs} for the nut flush and Ivey let out a "hmmm" before sliding his cards to the muck.

"I don't bet my friends on the river," Negreanu said with a laugh. "Only on the flop and turn, but not on the river."
