Negreanu Takes One

Level 10 : 500/1,000, 0 ante

With 5,500 chips in the middle and the board reading {Q-Spades}{9-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{6-Hearts}, Jody Fayant checked from the big blind and Daniel Negreanu bet 3,500 from the hijack. Fayant called.

The river brought the {2-Spades} and both players checked. Fayant announced "ace-nine" and tabled {A-Hearts}{9-Spades}{7-Spades}{3-Hearts}.

"It's good," said Negreanu as he turned over {10-}{9-}{8-Hearts}{6-Clubs} and realized almost immediately that his hand was the winner since he had nines and sixes to Fayant's nines and deuces.

"I'm sorry, my brain is doing too many things. But at least I tabled it," Negreanu said.

"I guess I should have bet the river," replied Fayant with a laugh.
