Afriat Chopped Down by a Hero

Level 13 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

With about 20,000 already piled up in the middle of an {8-Hearts}{k-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds} board, Eric Afriat bet 3,200 and his heads-up opponent check-called.

The {10-Spades} completed the board and the action was checked to Afriat once again. This time, Afriat fired 11,800 into the pot leaving just 3,000 behind and his opponent took a few moments before making the call.

Afriat tabled the {a-Spades}{9-Hearts} for just ace-high and his opponent opened the {2-Clubs}{6-Clubs}. Winning the pot with a pair of sixes.

The under the gun player opened to 2,500 and the player in the cutoff flatted. Maurice Hawkins three-bet to 7,200 on the button clearing the initial raiser but the player in the cutoff stuck around.

A {k-Hearts}{9-Spades}{8-Diamonds} flop fanned out and the player in the cutoff checked. Hawkins bet 8,100 and his opponent check-raised to 18,000. Hawkins immediately shoved all in and his opponent snap-folded.

"You got heart, kid" Hawkins said to his opponent after he folded.
