McKenna Takes Early Momentum

Level 29 : 60,000/120,000, 0 ante

Michael McKenna bet 150,000 on {a-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{3-Clubs} after he and Phil Galfond saw it for the minimum. Galfond called but folded to 300,000 more on the {a-Clubs} turn.

The next hand, McKenna raised to 260,000 and Galfond called. McKenna bet 300,000 on the {5-Spades}{9-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} flop and Galfond called. Galfond checked the {7-Clubs} turn and folded to a bet of 600,000.

Michael McKenna raised to 240,000 and Ali Abduljabbar defended his big blind.

The flop came {6-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{j-Spades}. Abduljabbar checked and McKenna continued for 300,000. Abduljabbar then announced pot and raised to 1,460,000.

"Before you act," Abduljabbar said to McKenna. "Before you act, let me propose a toast for my rail!"

McKenna paused before he did anything and the three players, including Phil Galfond, and their respective rails all loudly said "Cheers."

"Ok let's get this in," said McKenna after a pause to count the pot.

Michael McKenna: {8-Clubs}{5-Spades}{4-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}
Ali Abduljabbar: {a-Hearts}{6-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}

"I have a set boys," said Abduljabbar.

"Low cards!" cried the rail, but the {7-Spades} turn gave McKenna a straight. The river was the {k-Spades} and Abduljabbar was eliminated in third place.

Galfond Pays McKenna

Level 29 : 60,000/120,000, 0 ante

Right after they chopped a pot on {4-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{6-Diamonds} — Phil Galfond played {3-}{2-} for a low straight and Michael McKenna had {a-}{3-} for low — Galfond and McKenna saw a board of {q-Spades}{8-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{4-Spades}.

McKenna bet 400,000 on the river and Galfond considered awhile and called, losing to {a-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{10-Spades} for trips.

Abduljabbar Bluffs Some Off

Level 28 : 50,000/100,000, 0 ante

Phil Galfond completed and Ali Abduljabbar checked. They both checked the flop to a board of {9-Hearts}{3-Spades}{a-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}. Galfond bet 100,000 and Abduljabbar made it 250,000. Galfond called and the river was a {3-Diamonds}.

Galfond checked and Abduljabbar bet 300,000. Galfond called and his opponent must have indicated it was a bluff, because Galfond turned over {a-Spades}{q-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}{6-Hearts} for trips.

"Hearts are good, a jack is good," said Power, "And low cards."

Friendly Double from McKenna to Power

Level 28 : 50,000/100,000, 0 ante

Michael McKenna opened for 300,000 and reluctantly called the shove of Chad Power, who had 855,000 in the small blind.

Michael McKenna: {10-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{8-Clubs}
Chad Power: {a-Clubs}{q-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}

"Look at this cheese!" Power exclaimed. "Don't let me lose to this piece of trash. I wouldn't play that hand at a discount."

He didn't as the board ran {2-Hearts}{a-Spades}{k-Hearts}{7-Spades}{a-Hearts}.

"Man, we are friends, but I didn't know we were that good of friends," Power joked.

Marco Johnson opened for 350,000 under the gun. Michael McKenna called in the next seat and they saw a {6-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} flop heads up. Johnson potted and McKenna said he was setting him in for the last 200,000 or so.

Marco Johnson: {a-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{6-Spades}{2-Hearts}
Michael McKenna: {q-Hearts}{q-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}

Top set for McKenna and the {k-Clubs} and {k-Hearts} runout was clean for him, good for a knockout with queens full.
