Jeff Gibson Leads Day 1b of $565 Pot-Limit Omaha, Harwood Bags Big
A total of 1,226 entries filled the Brasilia Room at Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino for Day 1B of Event #19: $565 Pot-Limit Omaha. There was plenty of action and the chips were flying throughout the night. After 18 levels of Day 1b play, it's USA's Jeff Gibson leading the way with 374,000.
Gibson got off to a red hot start building a big stack early and never looked back. USA's Anuj Bahl is right is on heels with 361,000 and Florian Strasser rounds out the top three Day 1B chip stacks with 333,000.
Two-time WSOP bracelet winner USA's Loni Harwood will return to Day 2 with a healthy stack of 218,500.
Harwood is not the only two-time WSOP bracelet winner that will be returning as JC Tran will be joining her on Day 2 with 73,000.
Other players from this flight that will be moving on include WSOP bracelet Australia's James Obst.
The eliminations were fast and furious and plenty of big names hit the rail including Scott Clements, Nipun Java, Michael Mizrachi, Phil Hui, Jay Farber, Tyler Patterson and Amnon Filippi, just to name a few.
There are 49 Day 1b players advancing to Day 2 and they'll join the 52 Day 1a survivors in the Amazon Gold room on Saturday, June 9 at 2 P.M. local time.
The players are now all in the money and the blinds will be 3,000/6,000 when Day 2 play resumes. There will be 10 levels of Day 2 play with breaks every two levels and a one-hour dinner break after level 6.
