Derke Doubles Through Woodward

Level 25

Hold'em

The action folded to Matt Woodward on the button who raised it up and Nicholas Derke defended from the big blind. The flop fell {10-Spades}{9-Spades}{6-Diamonds} and Derke checked to Woodward who continued with a bet. Derke check-raised and Woodward put in a three-bet. Derke four-bet and Woodward five-bet to put Derke in jeopardy for his last 119,000.

Nicholas Derke: {j-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}
Matt Woodward: {j-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}

Derke held a dominating lead and the {3-Clubs} on the turn nor the {a-Spades} on the river would change that. He managed to score a full double at the hands of Woodward to remain seven-handed.

Omaha Hi-Lo

The action folded around to Scott Clements on the button who raised it up and was called by Andrey Zhigalov in the small blind. The flop fell {10-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{2-Clubs} and the two players got all of the chips in the middle with Clements being the one at risk.

Andrey Zhigalov: {a-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{7-Spades}{5-Diamonds}
Scott Clements: {9-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{4-Clubs}

Clements pulled into the lead with two pair on the {9-Hearts} turn card but the {10-Hearts} on the river gave Zhigalov trip tens. There was no low to be made and Clements was eliminated in seventh place. With the elimination of Clements, it is sure that a new WSOP gold bracelet winner will be crowned for the first time.

Smith Misses a Freeroll

Level 26

Stud Hi-Lo

Bradley Smith: {x-}{x-} / {7-Clubs}{k-Spades}{2-Clubs}{a-Clubs} / {x-}
Andrey Zhigalov: {x-}{x-} / {k-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{k-Hearts} / {x-}

Bradley Smith was the bring-in and Andrey Zhigalov completed with a king showing. Smith called and then called a bet on fourth street as well. On fifth, Smith check-raised Zhigalov to put him at risk for his remaining chips.

Smith tabled {6-Clubs}{5-Spades} while Zhigalov had {j-Clubs}{j-Diamonds} in the hole. When Smith drew the {a-Clubs} on sixth, he made the only low hand and was freerolling Zhigalov, hoping to make a flush. Smith peeled his card and turned over {a-Hearts} for just a pair of aces and Zhigalov was awarded half of the pot for the high hand.
