Hellmuth's First Three-Bet

Level 4 : 150/300, 25 ante

Phil Hellmuth just three-bet on one of his first hands in the 2014 Wold Series of Poker Main Event and he was immediately four-bet.

"Really? I get reraised again on my first reraise of the tournament?" Hellmuth said.

"You better have what you should have," Hellmuth muttered before throwing his hand into the muck.

Hellmuth's opponent showed {K-}{K-}, much to the champ's liking, and raked in this pot.

Idema Dices Up the Devilfish

Level 4 : 150/300, 25 ante
Daniel Idema
Daniel Idema

Just before the dinner break, Dave "Devilfish" Ulliott was crippled after being on the bad end of an aces-versus-kings cooler, and now his Main Event has come to an end courtesy of WSOP bracelet winner Daniel Idema.

We missed the hand as it happened, but we learned after the fact that Ulliott had gotten his remaining chips in on the turn holding top pair, but he was drawing dead as Idema, who was receiving a massage, had a flush.

The meaningless river was put out to make it official, and then the Devilfish took the long walk out of the Brasilia Room as his 2014 WSOP came to an end.

Check Please for Reinkemeier

Level 4 : 150/300, 25 ante
Tobias Reinkemaier
Tobias Reinkemaier

There was an open to 1,250 and Tobias Reinkemeier called. Everyone else folded and they went to a heads up flop of {7-Spades}{9-Spades}{q-Hearts}. It looked pretty tense between the two players and the hand took a couple of minutes to play out, but they both checked the flop, turn {5-Diamonds} and river {6-Hearts}.

The raiser showed {a-Clubs}{j-Hearts} and Reinkemeier the best hand {10-Hearts}{9-Hearts}.

Karnchanakphan Doesn't Find the Run Good

Level 4 : 150/300, 25 ante

If you've been around the poker world at all the last few years you've no doubt come across the brand Run Good Gear. The poker clothing company, which has a stable of pros, is the brainchild of president Tana Karnchanakphan, who was playing in his first WSOP Main Event today.

Unfortunately for Karnchanakphan, his day came to an early end. According to his farewell tweet, Karnchanakphan fell holding {k-}{q-} on a {7-}{8-}{2-}{q-}{q-} board. His opponent held {7-}{7-}, and that was all she wrote for Karnchanakphan, who will no doubt go back to cheering on his Run Good Gear comrades.

Lapossie Makes Gutsy Call

Level 4 : 150/300, 25 ante
Matthew Lapossie at the Little One for One Drop final table
Matthew Lapossie at the Little One for One Drop final table

With slightly more than 15,000 in the pot, Matthew Lapossie was facing an 11,000 bet from his lone opponent on a board of {J-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{7-Spades}. That bet was just a little less than what Lapossie had sitting in front of him.

"That was some river," said Lapossie. His opponent smiled, like the cat that ate the canary.

That was enough to convince Lapossie to make the call. "Good call," said his opponent, tabling {A-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} for a busted flush draw. Lapossie turned over {Q-Diamonds}{J-Clubs} for a pair of jacks to win the pot. Lapossie is coming off of a seventh place finish in the Little One for One Drop where he took home $89,020 and back in February won the 2014 Fallsview Poker Classic for $326,235. It's been a good year for the Canadian but it can get even better with a deep run in the biggest tournament of the year.

De Meulder Folds Turn

Level 4 : 150/300, 25 ante

On a flop of {8-Hearts}{8-Spades}{7-Hearts}, Matthias De Meulder checked over to the player on the cutoff who fired out 1,250. The player on the button folded and De Meulder stuck around.

The turn brought a third eight to the felt with the {8-Clubs}. De Meulder checked, his opponent bet 2,400, and De Meulder let it go. With this hit, he's down to about 27,500 in chips.

Pierce Hits Trip Tens

Level 4 : 150/300, 25 ante
Paul Pierce
Paul Pierce

Six players saw the flop come down {10-Hearts}{10-Spades}{8-Spades}, including NBA star Paul Pierce. On the flop, action was checked by two players before a third player bet 800 and got called by Pierce and one other.

On the turn, the {A-Spades} landed on the felt, and the remaining three players checked to see the {5-Hearts} land on the river. The first player bet 2,000, the second folded, and then Pierce called.

Pierce quickly turned over the {Q-Hearts}{10-Clubs} after calling for trip tens. His opponent nodded and mucked his hand, giving Pierce the pot and moving "The Truth" back up over 40,000 in chips.
