Ashby Doubles

Level 17 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Richard Ashby: {X-}{X-} / {Q-Clubs}{10-Spades}fold
Matt Grapenthien: {X-}{X-} / {9-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}

After Ashby completed the bet on third street, Grapenthien raised from the next seat. Action folded back to Ashby, and he called to see fourth street. Grapenthien bet double after he paired up with nines showing, and then Ashby tank-folded.

A couple hands later, the following hand happened to give Ashby the double up he was looking for:

Ashby: {Q-Clubs}{4-Spades} / {Q-Hearts}{3-Spades}{5-Hearts}{5-Diamonds} / {J-Clubs}
Grapenthien: {K-Hearts}{K-Diamonds} / {10-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{A-Hearts} / {J-Diamonds}

After Ashby completed the bet, Grapenthien raised behind him once again — and once again showing a lower card than Ashby was. Action folded back to Ashby, and he called. On fifth street, Ashby checked, Grapenthien bet, Ashby raised, Grapenthien reraised, and Ashby called all in.

Grapenthien was ahead with a pair of kings to Ashby's pair of queens. Ashby's board then ran out such that he made queens and fives. Grapenthien stayed with just a pair of kings after hi run out, and Ashby doubled up.
