Xiao Peng Eliminated in 5th Place ($53,614)

Level 24 : 12,000/24,000, 4,000 ante
Xiao Peng - 5th Place
Xiao Peng - 5th Place

Mark Herm opened to 52,000 from the cutoff and watched as a short-stacked Xiao Peng three-bet-jammed for 117,000 more.

After asking for a count and assessing the size of his own stack, which appeared to contain 700,000 or so. Herm called to put Peng at risk.

Herm: {k-Clubs}{7-Clubs}
Peng: {q-Spades}{9-Diamonds}

Herm held the slight lead with his king-high hand, while Peng was drawing live and looking for help. The drama ended in a flash when the flop fell {2-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{3-Clubs} to give Herm a flush, leaving Peng drawing all but dead. The turn ({2-Spades}) and river ({4-Diamonds}) meant nothing, and with that the final four players were reseated for their heads-up matches.

Peng's Pushes Get Through

Level 24 : 12,000/24,000, 4,000 ante

Xiao Peng is currently riding a short-stack with nearly 10 big blinds, and during the last two orbits she open-shoved from the button.

Watson on the Rise

Level 23 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante
Mike Watson
Mike Watson

Mark Herm raised from the small blind and Mike Watson called from the big blind.

The flop came down {9-Hearts}{7-Spades}{6-Hearts} and Herm continued for 53,000. Watson called to see the {3-Hearts} turn where Herm bet 90,000. Watson called after a few moments and the {5-Hearts} river completed the board. Herm tanked for a bit then bet 103,000 and was quickly called by Watson. Herm tabled {A-Spades}{8-Hearts} for a flush, but was bested by Watson's {10-Hearts}{7-Hearts} for a better flush.

A few hands later with the board reading {K-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}, Xiao Peng check-called 175,000 from Watson. The {A-Spades} river completed the board and Peng check-called 350,000. Watson tabled {K-Spades}{3-Spades} for trip kings, besting Peng's holding to win the pot.

It's Elementary

Level 23 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante

Mark Herm opened to 52,000 out of the small blind and Mike Watson flatted in defense of his big blind.

After the dealer fanned a flop of {6-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{5-Spades} across the felt, Herm continued his line with a 52,000 c-bet, and Watson flatted once more to take the {7-Clubs} on the turn.

Both players tapped the table and the river card came {k-Hearts} to complete the board. Herm fired away with a 69,000 wager, but after a long moment of deliberation Watson raised to 200,000. Herm stared his man down for a few minutes and counted out calling chips while eyeing his remaining stack. Eventually he surrendered, telling Watson "you got it" from across the table.
