Herm Back in the Lead

Level 25 : 15,000/30,000, 5,000 ante

Mike Watson raised to 60,000 on the button, Mark Herm three-bet to 150,000 in the big blind and Watson called to see a {7-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{8-Spades} flop. Herm continued for 135,000 and Watson folded.

The following hand, Herm opened to 65,000 on the button and Watson called, landing a {Q-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}{6-Hearts} flop. Watson check-called 65,000 to see the {6-Clubs} turn, which both checked. The {7-Hearts} river completed the board and both checked again.

Watson tabled {A-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}, but it was second best to Herm's {8-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}.

Watson and Herm Tangling

Level 24 : 12,000/24,000, 4,000 ante
Mark Herm got the better of Mike Watson in the last of their clashes, but the heads-up match continues on
Mark Herm got the better of Mike Watson in the last of their clashes, but the heads-up match continues on

The first few hands between Mike Watson and Mark Herm have seen each player draw blood.

First, the two played a limped pot and saw the flop come {q-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}, with Watson check-calling a 24,000 bet to see the {10-Clubs} fall on the turn. Watson then check-called a bet of 42,000 and both tapped the table on the {6-Clubs} river. Watson rolled over {k-Diamonds}{6-Hearts} for the second nut flush draw and a rivered pair, but Watson had him pipped with the {A-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} for the nut flush draw and a better pair.

Watson rebounded by four-betting to 275,000 on the next hand of note, coming over the top of Herm's 125,000 three-bet to force a fold.

Soon afterward, Watson struck again with a three-bet to 135,000 after Herm raised his button to 50,000. Once again, the pressure play worked to perfection.

Finally, Herm evened things up when the two saw a flop of {2-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} and Watson fired out for a 100,000 wager. Herm flatted and the turn fell {5-Hearts}, prompting both players to check. The river card was the {5-Spades} to pair the board, and Watson tapped the table once more to prompt a big bet of 310,000 by Herm. Watson couldn't stand the heat and soon his hand hit the muck, sending a sizable pot across the table to Herm.

Joseph Alban - 4th Place
Joseph Alban - 4th Place

On the first hand of the heads-up match between Jared Jaffee and Joseph Alban, Jaffee folded his button. On the second hand, Alban shoved for about 300,000 and Jaffee called.

Alban: {Q-Spades}{8-Clubs}
Jaffee: {9-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}

The flop fell {10-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}, keeping Jaffee ahead. The {J-Clubs} turn, however, gave Alban flush and straight outs in addition to a queen, but the {4-Hearts} river was no help, ending his tournament in fourth place.

Jaffee, meanwhile, will hold the chip lead in the the championship match against either Mike Watson or Mark Herm.
