Event #55: $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em Set To Start
With the Monster Stack event now down under 600 players some space has been cleared for the World Series of Poker's latest $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em event. And by all accounts, Event #55: $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em is going to need it.
Like they have before and likely will again, thousands are expected to turn up for this three-day poker extravaganza with the game's most coveted prize on the line.
According to the WSOP, Brit Barny Boatman is the reigning champion in this one, having earned $546,080 and a WSOP bracelet by besting a field of some 2,247 runners last year.
The plan Saturday, beginning at 12 p.m., is to play no less than eleven 60-minute levels with a 20-minute break every two and a 90-minute dinner break after the sixth.
Players will start with the usual 4,500 in tournament chips and if previous incarnations of this same structure are any indication, the action should be white hot as they look to spin it up or go home in a hurry.
Of course, the PokerNews Live Reporting team will be on hand for it all in an attempt to provide chip counts and coverage of the key hands along the way. Stay tuned poker fans, it's about to go off again.
