Straight For Alaei

Level 3

Pot-Limit Omaha

John Monnette raised to 1,400 from the cutoff and Daniel Alaei made it 3,700 to go from the button. The blinds got out of the way and Monnette called.

The flop came down {8-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} and Monnette took the lead for 6,000. Alaei flatted and the {7-Spades} fell down on the turn. Monnette slowed down with a check and Alaei rapped the table back. Fifth street was the {10-Hearts} and Monnette checked for a second time. Alaei moved 13,500 forward and Monnette thought for about 30 seconds before flinging out a call.

Alaei tabled {9-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{5-Spades}{4-Diamonds}, playing his nine-seven for the straight. Monnette mucked his hand and Alaei was pushed the pot. He now has about 110,000 in chips.
