"Welcome to the millionaires club. Population one. Phil Laak"
The wise words of Sorel Mizzi once Laak had stacked his chips.
Mathieu Jacqmin opened with a raise from the cutoff and Phil Laak called from the small blind. Laak then check-called a bet on the flop before checking the on the turn.
Jacqmin bet out 52,000 and Laak check-raised an assortment of chips that amounted to 260,000 total. Jacqmin went into the tank for several minutes before pushing in his 215,000-chip stack with Laak calling the additional few thousand.
Jacqmin:
Laak:
With Jacqmin needing to spike only an ace, the river blanked out and the Frenchman headed to the rail in 16th place as Laak soared to 1.145 million in chips.

Ryan Schmidt raised to 17,000 from the button and Sorel Mizzi called from the small blind. Numit Agrawal then three-bet the size of the pot, Schmidt folded, and Mizzi said, "Alright, let's do this."
He then four-bet and Agrawal called off the few remaining chips he had behind.
Mizzi:
Agrawal:
"You just want to chop it now?" Mizzi joked. The flop didn't change much, though it did give Agrawal a five to work with. This fact, combined with the running spade possibility, seemed to excited the animated Phil Laak.
Neither the turn nor river changed a thing, and the two chopped the pot.
"How did you dodge that?" a would up Laak asked his friend.
"You know why, because I play for the Los Angeles Dodgers," Mizzi bellowed as both players laughed and embraced in a hug, the sort you might see out of young boys who've engaged in merrymaking on the playground.

On a flop of with 52,000 in the middle, Phil Galfond led out for pot from the big blind and Fernando Brunca made the call before Phil Laak re-potted making it 260,000 from the button.
Galfond tossed in his last 4,000 before Brunca went into the tank for several minutes before calling as a plethora of Brazilian media and supporters rushed past the roped off area to sweat the action.
Galfond:
Brunca:
Laak:
With Brunca having a massive wrap, the Brazilian - and more than a dozen of his supporters - would be disappointed as he bricked out when the turn and river landed the and to send both Brunca and Galfond to the rail.

Phil Laak opened for 16,000 under the gun and Joseph Leung called from the cutoff. A short-stacked Phil Galfond, who was crippled just before the last break, then moved all in for 20,000 total from the button. The blinds folded, the other two players called, and then it was checked down as the board ran out .
"I'm gonna win," Galfond said and showed the for a full house. Indeed he did as both Laak and Leung sent their cards to the muck.
