Kurganov's Backdoor Flush Draw

Level 19 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

Max Silver raised to 16,000 from under the gun, George Danzer called on his direct left, and Igor Kurganov defended his big blind. The flop fell {5-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}, the action checked to Danzer, and he put out a bet. Kurganov check-raised to 63,000, Silver folded, and Danzer called.

The turn was the {4-Hearts}, and the rest of Kurganov's 103,000-chip stack went in the middle.

Kurganov: {3-Spades}{2-Spades}
Danzer: {j-Hearts}{10-Hearts}

Danzer was drawing stone dead, and he was shocked at the sight of Kurganov's hand. A meaningless {k-Hearts} completed the board, and Danzer started to razz Kurganov for playing his hand the way he did.

"I had a backdoor flush draw," Kurganov protested, pointing to the {5-Spades}.

He chipped up to 385,000, while Danzer fell to 215,000.
