Event #3: $1,000 Pot-Limit Omaha Kicks Off!
Welcome to PokerNews' live coverage of Event #3: $1,000 Pot-Limit Omaha!
Today marks the start of the third event of the 2014 World Series of Poker and the second open event of the summer. Compared to yesterday's $25,000 buy-in Mixed Max No-Limit Hold'em event, this $1k PLO tournament is affordable for the casual player. With this in mind, we expect to see a large turnout of hopefuls looking to claim one of the summer's first gold bracelets.
The $1,000 buy-in PLO event is new for the 2014 WSOP. Last year, the smallest PLO event was a $1,500 buy-in that occurred roughly a third of the way through the summer. That event was won by Josh Pollock who bested Noah Schwartz in heads up play for the bracelet and $279,431 in first-place prize money.
This event is the first of three straight PLO events for the summer. Players begin the day with a starting stack of 3,000 and will play 60-minute levels. There will be a 90-minute dinner break at the end of Level 6. Play will continue until the end of Level 10, where the runners still remaining will bag and tag for the evening.
Play kicks off at 12 p.m local time so be sure to stay tuned as PokerNews provides all of the latest from the tournament felt!
