Tran Ships on Brenes

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 0 ante

JC Tran raised to 7,000 on the button, and Humberto Brenes potted to 24,000 in the small blind. Tran called, and Brenes fired another 24,000 on the {a-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{a-Diamonds} flop. Tran pushed all in, putting Brenes at risk for his last 45,000, and he thought for a couple of minutes before mucking.

Rheem Doubles

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 0 ante

We caught the end of a hand with Chino Rheem all in for his last 33,300 on the river of a {7-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{k-Hearts} board with about 60,000 in the pot.

Anthony Zinno was contemplating a call for quite some time and after the clock was called and his final ten seconds counted down, he made it. Rheem turned over {a-Diamonds}{j-Spades} and it was good as Zinno's cards hit the muck.

Blair Hinkle opened for 6,000 under the gun, and Mickey Petersen potted for nearly all of his stack. When action folded back to Hinkle, he went ahead and put Petersen at risk. Petersen's {a-Diamonds}{j-Hearts} flopped top pair and he managed to fade Hinkle's {q-Hearts}{10-Hearts}, which flopped a flush draw.

Seiver Forced to Lay Down on Scary Board

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 0 ante

Scott Seiver bet 4,600 out of the small blind after an {a-Spades}{9-Spades}{7-Clubs} flop against Keith Tilston, who called out of the big blind. Seiver check-called 13,600 on the {10-Hearts} turn, and he checked the {6-Spades} river. Tilston kept firing, with 18,500 this time, and Seiver finally relented.

Stammen Stomps on Stern

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 0 ante

Keven Stammen made it 5,000 from the button before Dani Stern upped it to 15,000 in the small blind. Stammen opted to make the call after the big blind released and they went heads-up to the {a-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{5-Hearts} flop.

Stern led out for 16,000 but Stammen would have none of it, or all of it, depending on your perspective. He potted it and Stern folded with zero haste.

Matusow Runs into Aces Again

Level 13 : 1,200/2,400, 0 ante
Mike Matusow in an earlier event
Mike Matusow in an earlier event

We've just lost Mike Matusow after he ran into pocket aces again, not too long after doubling up Erik Seidel in a huge pot where he had kings.

On Matusow's last hand he raised to 5,000 and Alexander Venovski three-bet to 12,700. Matusow gave it some thought before moving all in and Venovski snap-called.

"Aces again?" Matusow cried, as Venovski nodded.

Venovski showed {A-Diamonds}{A-Spades} and Matusow shook his head as he turned over {A-Hearts}{K-Clubs}.

"I almost folded," Matusow said.

The board ran out {7-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{10-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}{3-Spades} and Matusow was knocked out.

"Would you have folded?" Matusow asked Seidel who shook his head.

"You had 22 big blinds with ace-king," Venovski said to console his opponent, and Matusow left the room.

Juanda Takes Out Watson

Level 13 : 1,200/2,400, 0 ante

John Juanda raised to 5,000 and from his immediate left it was Mike Watson who moved all in over the top for just 12,500. The action folded back to Juanda who announced he had ace-king as he made the call.

"Well, that's not good for me," Watson said as he went to showdown.

Juanda: {A-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}
Watson: {K-Clubs}{J-Clubs}

The board ran out {5-Clubs}{8-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{3-Hearts} and Juanda raked in this pot to knock Watson out.
