Gillis with the Catch and Release

Level 20 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Jaime Kaplan opened to 20,000 from early position and Ted Gillis made the call from the big blind. The flop was the {2-Clubs}{a-Clubs}{a-Hearts} and Gillis bet 32,000 and Kaplan made the call. The turn was the {a-Spades} and Gillis checked. Kaplan bet 52,000 and Gillis raised to 152,000.

Kaplan made the call and Gillis excitedly tabled his cards. Gillis apparently thought the board had completed and was so excited about his quads that he showed his winning hand of {a-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} early. After the {8-Hearts} river and an embarassing all in bet on the river, Kaplan made the fold.

The pressure may be getting to Gillis as this tournament gets deep, as he had his opponent reeled in but let him off of the hook and possibly some chips as well. To add insult, Gillis received a two-hand penalty for exposing his cards prematurely.
