Event #19: $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em

Event #19: $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em
Day 1 Started
Welcome back to The Rio for a $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em tournament at the World Series of Poker. We’re expecting a huge field ready to take their shot at a big six-figure payday.
There will be plenty of amateur dreamers finding their way into this event, but we expect a large contingency of pros searching for a large score and the bracelet, as well.
Last year it was Athanasios Polychronopoulus who alphabetted his way through 2,104 other entrants to take home his second bracelet in a $1,500 no-limit hold’em event and $518,755. Other $1,500 event winners from last year were Jonathan Taylor, Corey Harrison, Jason Duval, Jared Hamby, Barny Boatman, Brett Shaffer and Loni Harwood.
With a large field expected, we will also expect to play 11 levels today for the first day of this 3-day event.
Keep it here throughout the day to follow along with PokerNews' live coverage of Event #19, as cards will be in the air at 12 noon local time.

We've noticed a few bigger names taking their seat early in the day.
Canadian Mike Leah has a seat at Table 56 to try to go deep in this event after finding plenty of success earlier this year. He has already won four events this year, including earning two WSOP Circuit rings within 24 hours.
We spotted Maurice Hawkins settling in for the grind. He final-tabled the Millionaire Maker a few days ago and earned $128,150 for doing so.
PokerStars Team Online Pro Mickey Petersen is also in his seat at Table 27. We noticed a few of his opponents eyeing up his patches warily.

Fresh off of his final table at the $1,500 Pot Limit Hold'em event, Phil Collins is back at it in no-limit and he took a small pot early.
He was one of four players to see a flop of and he check-called both the flop and the versus his heads-up opponent. After the river both players checked and his ten-nine for two pair was good to take the pot.
