Malm Makes Top Set

Level 23

No-Limit Hold'em

Michael Malm opened under the gun to 19,000. It folded to Greg Mueller's big blind and he flat called.

The dealer fanned a flop of {A-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{Q-Spades} and Mueller check-called 20,000. The turn was the {7-Spades} and Mueller checked. Malm checked it back and the {10-Hearts} hit the river. Mueller checked once more and Malm cut out 100,000. Mueller sat pondering for a moment before finally letting go. Malm flashed {A-Clubs}{A-Hearts} for top set as he dragged in the pot.

Wolansky Makes a Nine

Level 23

2-7 Triple Draw

Eric Crain raised it up under the gun, and Steven Wolansky called from the big blind.

"Defense," he said.

Both players drew one, and Wolansky check-called.

"Defense, draw one?" Crain asked.

Both players again drew one on second draw before checking. Again, both drew one. Wolansky bet out, and Crain called.

"Nine," Wolansky said, turning over {9-}{5-}{4-}{3-}{2-}. Crain knuckled the table and mucked his hand

Limit Hold'em

Steven Wolansky had the button. He raised the action and it folded to Michael Hurey in the big blind who three-bet. Wolsansky announced four bets and Hurey five bet all in.

"Call. Aces," remarked Wolansky, tabling {A-Clubs}{A-Hearts}.

Hurey meekly showed {A-Diamonds}{7-Spades} and was in extreme need of help.

Unfortunately for Hurey the board failed to oblige as it fell {5-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{8-Spades}{2-Spades}{J-Spades}. He was eliminated in 5th place and will take home $47,771 in winnings.

Wolansky Makes Top Two

Level 23

Pot-Limit Omaha

Greg Mueller opened to 20,000 on the button, and Steven Wolansky called in the big blind.

Both players checked the {8-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{q-Diamonds} flop, and likewise the {a-Clubs} turn. The {3-Hearts} hit the river, and Wolansky fired out 25,000. Mueller made the call.

"Top two," Wolansky said, turning over {a-Hearts}{q-Spades}{4-Spades}{10-Hearts}. He took the pot.

Dario Alioto Eliminated in 6th Place ($35,634)

Dario Alioto - 6th Place

Omaha Eight-or-Better

Eric Crain opened from UTG+1 with a raise and it folded around to Dario Alioto who called out of the small blind. The flop came {J-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{5-Hearts} and Alioto checked. Crain continued and Alioto slid out a check-raise. Crain three-bet and Alioto came back with a four-bet. Crain capped it and Alioto called.

The {A-Spades} turned and Alioto moved all in with his last bet. Crain called.

Crain: {8-Spades}{8-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{3-Clubs}
Alioto: {A-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{3-Hearts}

The river bricked out for Alioto and Crain's wheel was enough to scoop the pot. Alioto was eliminated in 6th place and will collect $35,634 in winnings.

Mike Wattel Eliminated in 7th Place ($26,966)

Level 22
Mike Wattel
Mike Wattel

Omaha Eight or Better

Greg Mueller raised from under the gun, and Mike Wattel called from the big blind.

The flop came {3-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{10-Clubs}, and Wattel check-raised the last of his chips.

Wattel: {2-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{j-Spades}{5-Hearts}
Mueller: {a-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{j-Clubs}

Mueller had the superior low draw, but Wattel's threes led for high. A {k-Hearts} fell on the turn, and Wattel was in decent shape to survive. An {a-Hearts} river gave Mueller both the high and the low though, and Wattel hit the rail.
