Schwartz Doubles

On a flop of {4-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{K-Spades} flop with the pot sitting at roughly 9,000 we found Noah Schwartz checking over to the player on the button who bet out 4,800.

Schwartz paused for a few moments before moving all in for 27,600 with the button player making the call.

Schwartz: {4-Spades}{4-Clubs}
Opponent: {K-Diamonds}{8-Spades}

With Schwartz needing to fade a king or eight to stay alive, the {5-Hearts} and {J-Spades} on the turn and river would see his flopped set hold true and ensure the double to just under 70,000 in chips.

Owen Drags Three-Way Pot

Jonathan Aguiar opened to 1,600 from middle position and was called by both the cutoff and Dan Owen on the button.

The flop came {2-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{4-Spades}, and Aguiar continuation-bet 3,000. Both opponents called. The turn came {a-Clubs}, and Aguiar checked. The cutoff bet 9,200, and Owen called. Aguiar cut his chips and thought for a bit before coming along as well. All three players checked the {4-Diamonds} river.

Owen turned over {a-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}, and both of his opponents mucked.

Demidov Declines

Original November Niner and 2008 Main Event second-place finisher Ivan Demidov just now was involved in a hand that saw him and one opponent reach a {9-Spades}{2-Hearts}{3-Hearts} flop having already built a pot of about 6,000.

When checked to Demidov fired a bet of 3,000, but when his opponent check-raised to 9,200, Demidov declined to take the hand any further and tossed his cards away.

Judet Treading Lightly

Toni Judet raised to 1,700 from the cutoff seat and got a single caller from the button. The flop came {5-Diamonds}{A-Clubs}{6-Hearts}, and after pausing a moment Judet pushed out a continuation bet of 1,700, and his opponent called quickly. The turn then brought the {8-Diamonds}. This time Judet checked, and after his opponent slid out a bet of 3,800, Judet didn't waste too much time before letting his hand go.

No Book For Pinkus

Barry Greenstein
Barry Greenstein

While famously known for giving a copy of his book Ace on the River, to any player that busted him from a tournament, Brian Pinkus was not lucky enough to receive a copy today when he eliminated Barry Greenstein from this year's Main Event.

After a raise of 2,000 and two calls, Greenstein moved all in from the button for 20,400. The original raiser folded. The first caller, Brian Pinkus, went into the tank for a good two minutes before making the call. That lead to a fold from the other caller and brought Pinkus and Greenstein to a showdown.

Pinkus: {A-Spades}{K-Clubs}
Greenstein: {A-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}

The flop came down {10-Spades}{6-Spades}{10-Spades} giving Greenstein no help. The {K-Diamonds} on the turn paired Pinkus' live card, but also gave Greenstein outs to a gutshot straight draw. The river was the {6-Clubs} though and even though the pair double paired, Pinkus' pair of kings was enough to give him the knock out, but not a copy of Ace on the River.

Pezzin Grabs One

Pat Pezzin
Pat Pezzin

The under the gun player raised to 1,600, and Dimitar Yosifov called. Then Catherine Dever called from the small blind and Pat Pezzin called from the big blind. The flop came {3-Hearts}{4-Spades}{k-Spades}, and Pezzin led out for 2,000. The preflop raiser folded, and Yosifov and Dever both called. All three players checked when the {q-Spades} came on the turn, and then the {q-Hearts} completed the board on the river. Pezzin bet again, this time for 3,100. Yosifov called, and Dever folded. Pezzin turned over {k-Diamonds}{7-Hearts} for top pair on the flop, and Yosifov mucked.
