O'Donnell, Duhamel Lead to Start Day 2

Jonathan Duhamel returns to a second-place stack to start Day 2 of Event #61
Jonathan Duhamel returns to a second-place stack to start Day 2 of Event #61

Welcome back to Day 2 of the last preliminary event of the summer, Event #61: $10,000 Pot-Limit Omaha, where 168 players return with hopes of winning the last bracelet to be awarded at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino this summer, as the winner of the Main Event will not be determined until later this year.

Of all of those hopefuls Matt O'Donnell returns to the most chips today with 269,200, with 2010 WSOP Main Event champion Jonathan Duhamel, Jared Bleznick, Alexey Rybin, and Joseph Cheong also returning to big stacks of more than 240,000 each.

Lurking also on the first page of the counts are Mike Watson, Christian Harder, and NBA great Paul Pierce, all of whom will begin play with more than twice the average stack.

All are seeking the bracelet, of course, but there's a lot of cash to be won as well, as the large field of 386 together created a total prize pool of $3,628,400 to be divided among the final 45. The winner is scheduled to receive a cool $852,692, representing one of the larger prizes that will be won this summer.

The PLO action resumes at 2 p.m. local time. Come back then as we find out together who will make it to tomorrow's third and final day with a chance to win bracelet #61.

While we wait, here's Lynn Gilmartin to catch us up on all that's happening currently as the 2013 WSOP moves into its exciting final stretch.
