Matthew Goldman Finds Runner-Runner Redemption

Level 21 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante
Dan Kelly During Day 3 Action
Dan Kelly During Day 3 Action

As this Day 3 progresses at a torrid pace, the players have been pushing their chips around the table early and often. Matthew Goldman was the latest to get his stack into the middle, but his {6-Clubs}{6-Spades} was crushed by the {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs} held by Dan Kelly.

A flop of {K-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{5-Hearts} appeared to be quite safe for Kelly's overpair, but the presence of connected low cards must have been a bit disconcerting. The {7-Diamonds} on the turn confirmed those fears, offering Goldman a lifeline in the form of an open-ended straight draw.

River: {3-Hearts}

Just like that, Goldman had doubled his stack of 240,000 through the dangerous Kelly, and he now sits with an average stack.

Ryan Welch Triples Up

Level 21 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

Anthony Maio raised to 26,000 from under the gun and Ryan Welch three-bet all in for 108,000 from UTG+2. Joe Kuether called on the button before Maio eventually reraised all in for a little bit more. Kuether called.

Maio: {A-Spades}{Q-Spades}
Kuether: {A-Hearts}{K-Clubs}
Welch: {5-Hearts}{5-Clubs}

The flop came down {A-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{2-Clubs}, giving Kuther a comfortable lead. However, he lost out on the double elimination as the {5-Spades} turn gave Welch a set to win the main pot. Adding insult to injury, the {Q-Diamonds} river fell to give Maio two pair to survive.

Benny Chen Chases One Off

Level 22 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

With one of the biggest stacks left in the Amazon Room's Tan section, Benny Chen is playing power poker to perfection.

On a flop of {5-Clubs}{9-Spades}{3-Hearts}, the small blind led out for 34,000 and Chen flatted to see the turn. After the {7-Spades} arrived, Chen's opponent continued again, this time for 40,000. After a moment of thought, Chen announced himself all-in, effectively forcing the smaller stack to a test for his tournament life.

This pressure proved to be too intense, and the player mucked his cards, sending yet another pot in Chen's direction.

Khammy Lim's Loss Leaves Us Lady-less

Level 22 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

The last woman left in contention for the "Millionaire Maker" crown has just been eliminated, leaving the fellas to compete for the seven-figure payday.

With her stack dwindling and blinds chipping away at her stack, Khammy Lim shoved all-in from under the gun with {A-Spades}{J-Hearts}. Her bet of 121,000 was called by a player in the big blind who tabled {A-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}, dominating Lim's ace and putting her in a deep hole.

The flop fell {9-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} and Lim was in desperate need of a jack on the turn or river, but running deuces left her outkicked and out of the tournament.

Justin Liberto Fills Up the Tank

Level 22 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

The shorter stacks are being forced to move their chips if they hope to stay in contention, and Jason Liberto did just that with {A-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}. He got his last 150,000 or so chips into the middle before the flop, and was called in one spot by an opponent holding {5-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}.

The flop of {K-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{K-Spades} vaulted Liberto into the led with trip kings, and the {A-Clubs} secured his double up, leaving his opponent with no outs in the deck.
