Tran Flushed by Cohen

Level 16 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

The action started with JC Tran opening to 6,000 from under the gun plus one, before Jonathan Cohen bumped it up to 16,000 from the button. Tran made the call, as both watched the flop come down {q-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}. Tran checked his option, as Cohen sat there for a moment, contemplating his next move. He finally decided to move all in, and was snap called, as both players turned over their cards.

Tran: {a-Clubs}{8-Clubs}
Cohen: {A-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}

Cohen had flopped top pair, but Tran had outs to a flush. The board ran out the {5-Spades} and {a-Hearts} to see Cohen hold with his pair.

Closing in on the Money

Level 16 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

With a table recently breaking we are now down to 10 tables and just 90 players remaining.

With the top 81 players receiving a piece of the prizepool and just over 34 minutes remaining on the clock, there is a chance we may hit the money before dinner break. And like on previous occasions at the WSOP, if the tournament is hand-for-hand at the time of dinner, the Tournament Director will more than likely continue play until the bubble is broken so that the final 81 players can enjoy a dinner break knowing they are $9,175 richer.

Levy Folds, Darner Over 400k

Grant Levy
Grant Levy

Grant Levy opened to 6,500 and Randal Flowers made the call before Mark Darner three-bet the button to 22,000. Levy deliberated for a few moments before making the call as Flowers mucked.

The flop of {6-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{2-Spades} saw Levy check before Darner continued for 30,000. Levy went into the tank for close to three minutes before eventually laying his hand down to slip to roughly 185,000 while Darner creeps over the 400,000-chip mark.

Berkey Takes Out Two

Level 16 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

The hand started with Mike Watson moving all in for 43,700 and getting an immediate call from Matt Berkey to his left. The action folded around to Ryan Schmidt, who then announced all in for around 135,000 in chips. Berkey asked for a count, but made the call regardless, as the cards were shown.

Berkey: {q-Hearts}{q-Clubs}
Schmidt: {a-Spades}{k-Spades}
Watson: {a-Clubs}{j-Spades}

Berkey was looking in great shape to eliminate two players, until the flop came down {a-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{3-Hearts} giving both his opponent top-pair. However, the {8-Hearts} fell on the turn, giving Berkey the flush, leaving both his opponents drawing dead, as the meaningless {j-Clubs} completed the board.

“Where did you come from?” asked JC Tran, after the hand.

“Mars!” replied Berkey, who’s recent move to the table paid off nicely, as he rockets up to 355,000 in chips.

Habib Halted

Level 16 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

Following a min-raise under the gun to 6,000, Hasan Habib moved all in for 36,500 from the button. The action folded back to the initial raiser and he made the call.

Habib: {A-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}
Opponent: {A-Clubs}{K-Clubs}

The board ran out {10-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}{A-Spades}{9-Clubs} and Habib hit the rail in 83rd place - just two short of the money.

On The Bubble

Level 16 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

After a quick succession of eliminations, we are now on the bubble and playing hand-for-hand.

82 players left and 81 in-the-money. Let the carnage begin!

Pritchard Doubles on Bubble

Level 16 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

Catching the action with the board reading {Q-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{A-Spades}{2-Diamonds} we found Australian Jason Pritchard betting out 21,000 only to have his opponent move all in for over 175,000.

Pritchard went deep into the tank until several minutes went by and his opponent eventually decided to call time. As the clock ticked down, Pritchard announced, "Ok, time to gamble!"

Pritchard: {A-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}
Opponent: {K-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}

Although thinking he was behind, Pritchard would be at a huge advantage to double through on the bubble, and when the {9-Clubs} completed the board on the river, he was up to over 200,000 in chips.

Bubble Hands Before the Break

Level 16 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

Several hands just occurred during the break, to leave us needing one more elimination once everyone returns.

The first hand saw the action folded around to Barry Shulman on the button, who opened to 8,000. His opponent in the small blind then bumped it up to 20,500, which was called. The flop came down {q-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{2-Spades}, as the player in the small blind threw out a continuation bet of 13,000. Shulman quickly reached for chips, and raised it up to 33,000, which was enough to take down the pot.

In the next hand, and with the flop showing {4-Spades}{9-Spades}{j-Clubs}, Jonathan Cohen checked from under the gun, as JC Tran bet out 11,700. He was called, as the {4-Clubs} fell on turn. Another check call of 16,600 was witnessed, before the {7-Hearts} completed the board. Cohen checked once more, as Tran reached for his chips, before betting out 44,300. After thinking for almost a minute, Cohen made the call, before Tran tabled his {j-Hearts}{j-Spades} for a full house.

“Thought I was chopping,” said Cohen, as he rolled over his {a-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}.

The following hand, Jason Wheeler was positioned under the gun plus one, and tanked over his decision for several minutes, continuously looking around the room, before finally opting to raise it up to 6,500. The action folded around to Eric Baldwin in the small blind, who paused for a moment, before announcing all in, which had Wheeler covered. He looked around the room a few more times, before letting his hand go.

In the final hand before the break, Jeff Papola committed the last of his chips in holding {a-Clubs}{a-Diamonds} and was called by Matt Berkey who had {a-Spades}{k-Clubs}. The board ran out {7-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}, to see Papola survive, as the players went on break.
