Kostritsyn Scoops

Level 8

Omaha-8

With the board showing {2-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}, Phil Ivey sat in thought for a moment before calling from the blinds a late-position bet from Alexander Kostritsyn. The river then brought the {3-Diamonds}. Ivey bet this time, and after thinking just a moment Kostritsyn called.

Ivey turned over {Q-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{3-Spades} for trip treys (high) and an 8-7-4-3-2 (low). But Kostritsyn had trip treys as well with a better kicker with {A-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}{7-Spades}{3-Hearts}, and his 8-7-3-2-A was better as well, earning the Russian the scoop.

After starting the day with a short stack and battling for nearly three levels, Ivey again finds himself down to just a little over four big bets in the limit games.
