Philippe Clerc Eliminated in 5th Place ($105,007)

Level 26 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante
Philippe Clerc
Philippe Clerc

Hand #59: Philippe Clerc Raised to 80,000, and Michael Zucchet called from the big blind. The players saw the flop heads up, and the dealer spread {10-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}. Zucchet checked, and Clerc bet 100,000. Zucchet called, and the dealer turned the {j-Diamonds}. Zucchet checked again, and Clerc bet again, this time for 180,000. Zucchet announced an all-in raise for 1,025,000. Clerc would be at risk if he called, and he went into the tank. After a couple minutes, he called, and the players turned up their cards:

Clerc {k-Clubs}{j-Spades}
Zucchet: {a-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}

Clerc had a pair of jacks and an open-ended straight draw, while Zucchet had an overpair. The river was the {3-Spades}, a complete brick. Zucchet won the pot, knocking Clerc out of the tournament. He earns $105,007 for his fifth place finish.

Barry Hutter Eliminated in 6th Place ($77,685)

Level 26 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante
Barry Hutter
Barry Hutter

Hand #55: On the button Jason Bigelow raised to 100,000 from the button. Everyone folded and he collected the antes and blinds.

Hand #56: Matthias Bednarek raised from the small blind and took down the pot when Philippe Clerc folded his big blind for 60,000 more.

Hand #57: After a button raise from Matthias Bednarked, Phillipe Clerc moved all in from the small blind. With action back on Bednarek he folded and Clerc was awarded the pot.

Hand #58: Dana Castaneda raised to 100,000 from the small blind. From the big blind Barry Hutter reraised to 300,000. Back on Castaneda, she called to see a flop. The flop came down {10-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{4-Clubs} and Castaneda led for 400,000. Hutter moved all in over the top of the raise for 1,205,000. Castaneda tanked for about three minutes before finally making the call.

Castaneda: {3-Spades}{3-Hearts}
Hutter: {A-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}

Castaneda made a great call and was well ahead in the hand, but she still needed to dodge and {A-}{K-} or {3-} to win the hand. The {7-Diamonds} on the turn was safe for Castaneda, as was the {3-Clubs} river which improved her to a full house. With that elimination, Castaneda vaulted herself well into the chip lead by eliminating the wire to wire chip leader from days 1 and 2.

Michael Zucchet Doubles Up

Level 26 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante
Michael Zucchet
Michael Zucchet

Hand #53: Dana Castaneda raised to 90,000, and Barry Hutter three-bet to 225,000. Castaneda folded and Hutter took the pot.

Hand #54: Philippe Clerc raised to 80,000, and Michael Zucchet pushed all in for 600,000 from the big blind. Clerc called, and the players turned up their hands:

Clerc: {j-Diamonds}{j-Spades}
Zucchet: {k-Clubs}{8-Hearts}

The flop came {a-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{3-Spades}, offering no help to Zucchet. Without even a backdoor draw, Zucchet would need either a king or running eights to win the pot. The turn was the {9-Clubs}, eliminating Zucchet's runner-runner outs. The river was the {k-Spades} giving Zucchet a winning pair of kings and the pot. Zucchet doulbed up and now sits with 1,250,000 in front of him.

Zucchet Pitches His Queens

Level 26 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante

Hand #48: Dana Castaneda opened for 90,000 and was able to take down the blinds and antes without a fight.

Hand #49: Barry Hutter opened to 90,000. Action folded to Matthias Bednarek in the big who jammed all in. Hutter quickly let his hand go and Bednarek scooped the pot.

Hand #50: Jason Bigelow opened the pot for 80,000. When action got to Michael Zucchet he reraised to 200,000. Bigelow called the raise and the two took a flop of {A-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{K-Spades}. On that flop Bigelow shoved all in and Zucchet folded his {Q-}{Q-} face up.

Hand #51: On the button Matthias Bednarek raised to 80,000. Both blinds folded and Bednarek took down the pot.

Hand #52: From the button Phillip Clerc raised and that was good enough to collect the blinds and antes.

Hand #43: Philippe Clerc raised to 80,000 from under the gun. Dana Castaneda three-bet to 225,000. Clerc folded, and Castaneda took the pot.

Hand #44: Barry Hutter raised to 90,000. Philippe Clerc then three-bet to 195,000 from the big blind. Hutter called, and the dealer spread {2-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{6-Hearts} for the flop. Clerc led out for 120,000, and Hutter called. The turn was the {4-Hearts}, and Clerc continued for 300,000. Hutter folded, and Clerc raked in the chips.

Hand #45: Barry Hutter raised to 90,000 under the gun, and everyone else folded.

Hand #46: Dana Castaneda raised from the small blind and won the blinds and antes.

Hand #47: Mattias Bednarek open-shoved all in for 400,000. Barry Hutter called, and the players turned up their cards.

Hutter: {4-Clubs}{4-Hearts}
Bednarek: {9-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}

The flop came {5-Spades}{4-Spades}{7-Diamonds}, giving Hutter a set, but also giving Bednarek an inside-straight draw. The turn was the {6-Clubs}, completing Bednarek's straight, but Hutter could win the pot if the board paired on the river. The river was actually the {8-Hearts}, putting a straight on board, but Bednarek's {9-Hearts} gave him a higher straight, and the pot. He doubled up to 830,000.

Joseph Wertz Eliminated in 8th Place ($44,032), Jacob Bazeley Eliminated in 7th Place ($58,147)

Level 26 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante
Joseph Wertz
Joseph Wertz

Hand #42: Joseph Wertz moved all in from under the gun for 310,000. He was called by Barry Hutter from the cutoff. In the next seat over Jacob Bazeley reraised all in for 410,000 over the top. In the small blind, Jason Bigelow moved all in for 1,090,000. Action folded back around to Barry Hutter who folded, bringing the three remaining players to a showdown.

Wertz: {j-Hearts}{9-Clubs}
Bazeley: {A-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}
Bigelow: {A-Spades}{A-Diamonds}

The flop came down {4-Spades}{7-Clubs}{j-Clubs} giving a little piece to everyone. A pair of jacks for Wertz, and a backdoor flush draw for Bazeley, but it kept Bigelow in the lead. The turn was the {6-Clubs} which gave Bazeley one of the clubs he was looking for. Fortunately for Bigelow, the river was the blank {4-Hearts}, allowing him to eliminate both players. Since Bazeley finished with more chips, he earned the higher of the two payout spots.

Dana Castaneda

Hand #41: Philippe Clerc raised to 85,000, and Dana Castaneda called. Barry Hutter then three-bet to 285,000 from the button. Clerc folded, and Castaneda called. The flop came {j-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}. Castaneda checked, and Hutter continued for 375,000. Castaneda responded by pushing all in for 490,000. Hutter: {k-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}

Castaneda was ahead with three jacks, but Hutter had an open-ended straight draw. The turn was the {6-Diamonds} and the river was the {4-Spades}, and Dana Castaneda raked in the pot.
