With below average stacks to start play today, bracelet winners Barry Shulman and David Chiu knew they needed to make a few early moves to put themselves in position for a deep run.

Unfortunately, we just watched both players make those moves unsuccessfully, with both Shulman and Chiu and crippled after folding to big bets on the river.

First, Shulman bet the {8-Spades}{10-Spades}{9-Hearts} flop and he was called in one spot. After firing away again on the {a-Clubs} turn, Shulman then called a raise to see the river, but he check-folded quickly to a bet, and his opponent flashed a straight.

Next, David Chiu got a few bets in on the {2-Spades}{q-Spades}{k-Clubs} flop, and two players came along for the ride. The {7-Spades} on the turn was checked down, but Chiu was forced out by a bet on the {9-Diamonds} river.

With the losses, both of these pros left themselves with very little wiggle room, and unless a few double-ups occur in quick succession, we expect to be writing their tournament obituaries shortly.
