One of the Best
Brandon Steven raised to 57,000 out of the small blind, Jeremy Ausmus defended from the big blind, and the flop fell . Steven fired out another 57,000, Ausmus called, and both players knuckled when the turned.
The completed the board, and Steven tossed out 127,000. Ausmus sat quietly, riffling chips with his right hand while gripping his cards firmly with his left. He studied the board and the pot, and looked over at his neighbor once or twice before releasing his hand into the muck.
The two then had a brief exchange.
"You're one of the best players I know," Steven told him. "I knew if you called, then I was in trouble. You don't make wrong decisions."
"Half the room is better than me," Ausmus replied, humbly. "Half of this table, actually."
Steven laughed.
"I'm serious," the Octo-Niner told him, chuckling as well.
