Hertzog Doubles Without a Showdown

Level 26 : 30,000/60,000, 7,000 ante

Hand #175:

Joseph Hertzog: {x-}{x-} / {6-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{9-Spades} / {x-}
Daniel Idema: {x-}{x-} / {j-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{9-Diamonds} / {x-}

Raul Paez brought it in, Hertzog completed, and Idema raised. Only Hertzog called, and Hertzog proceeded to raise when Idema led out on fourth street. Idema called, the check-called bets on fifth, and sixth. On seventh, Idema checked a final time, Hertzog moved all in for 26,000, and Idema folded.

"You're never bluffing here," the Canadian said.

"Aces-up," Hertzog said, mucking his hand. "Picked up a six on seventh."

Since three-handed play began, the players have been battling for small pots. We'll stay vigilant for the next big hand that develops.

Hand #156:

Daniel Idema: {x-}{x-} / {a-Spades}{4-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{k-Clubs} / {x-}
Raul Paez: {x-}{x-} / {6-Spades}{k-Spades}{3-Clubs}{j-Spades} / {x-}
Matt Vengrin: {x-}{x-} / {9-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} / {x-}

Paez brought it in, Vengrin moved all in, Idema raised, and Paez called. Idema bet out on fourth, fifth, and sixth street, Paez called all three bets, and both players checked on seventh.

Idema: {k-Hearts}{q-Clubs}{4-Clubs}
Paez: {a-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}{4-Spades}
Vengrin: {10-Diamonds}{9-Spades}

Vengrin squeezed out his last card, needing a nine and a nine only to survive, but he turned over a brick - the {8-Diamonds}.

Idema's Gets a Wheel; Vengrin Crippled

Level 26 : 30,000/60,000, 7,000 ante

Hand #154:

Joseph Hertzog: {x-}{x-}/{a-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{3-Hearts}
Daniel Idema: {x-}{x-}/{a-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}

Idema raised it on third after Hertzog completed, and everyone else folded. Idema kept the lead through fifth before check-raising all in for the last of his stack on sixth.

"Six would be a good card," he told Greg Mueller, who was sweating him. Idema turned over {2-}{4-} for a wheel, and Mueller laughed at his greed.

"Guy has a wheel and he's over there asking for a six," he said.

Hertzog couldn't beat the wheel, and Idema scooped the pot to double.

Meanwhile, in an earlier pot, Matt Vengrin lost most of his stack against another monster from Raul Paez. Paez made a straight and a seven-low.

Hertzog Has Heart

Level 25 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante

Hand #144:

Joseph Hertzog: {x-}{x-} / {5-Hearts}{a-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} / {x-}
Raul Paez: {x-}{x-} / {8-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} / {x-}

Hertzog brought it in, Paez completed, and Hertzog called. Paez bet out on fourth street, Hertzog raised, and Paez called. Paez slowed down, check-calling bets on fifth and sixth street, and he check-called one last bet on seventh.

"Flush," Hertzog said, showing {j-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{x-}.

Paez flashed the {8-Spades} for trips and mucked the rest of his hand.
