Day 1 of the $1500 No-Limit Hold’em Main Event 24 has come to a close. The tournament started off with 1,731 players, and only 198 remain. All 198 are in the money and they are eyeing a top prize of $432,411. They will still need to complete a task of 10 levels tomorrow to get to the final day.

The chip leader after the first 11 hours is Ashton Holmes, who bagged 126,300 in chips at the end of the day. He will hope to continue his success tomorrow with other players with high chip counts like Paul Wasicka (126,100), Mohsin Charania (122,800), and Huy Nguyen (116,100). Other notables to make it to day 2 are Daniel Strelitz (97,400), Victor Ramdin (74,900), Rob Salaburu, (41,800), and AP Phahurat (26,100).

Casualties fell like always today and many big names went home empty-handed. Antonio Esfandiari, Melanie Weisner, Kevin Saul, Faraz Jaka, Carlos Mortensen and Mario Ho all went home, as well as many other well-known names.

The final 198 come back tomorrow at 1:00 PM PST to attempt to play down to a final table.
