McNeil Takes Two From Brunson

Level 27 : 20,000/40,000, 0 ante

Todd Brunson is back in the danger zone of having just a few big bets left in his stack after Calen McNeil took two pots from the pro. In the first hand, McNeil raised it up on the button, and Joe Ford called, as did Brunson in the big blind. The flop came {q-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}, and it was checked to McNeil, who fired out a bet. Ford folded, but Brunson made the call. The {10-Clubs} hit the turn, and Brunson check called another bet. Both players checked the {9-Clubs} on the river, and McNeil showed {k-Spades}{k-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{8-Spades} for kings up. Bruson flashed {a-}{q-} for top pair on board before mucking.

A few hands later, Brunson started the action with a raise, and McNeil called from the big blind. The flop came {6-Spades}{j-Clubs}{9-Spades}, and McNeil pulled a check raise on Brunson. Brunson called, and the {7-Spades} hit the turn. McNeil fired out again, and this time, Brunson was the one who raised. McNeil called, and when the {5-Hearts} hit the river, both players checked.

McNeil showed {q-Spades}{8-Spades}{k-Hearts}{j-Diamonds} for a queen high flush, and Brunson nodded his head, showed {a-Spades}{a-Clubs} for a pair of aces with the nut flush blocker, and folded his hand, dropping him to just 250,000.
