Kessler Misses Out on Value
During every event at the 2013 World Series of Poker, there is a random drawing to give away $100, which will go directly into that players WSOP.com account when the site eventually launches. If you are wearing a WSOP.com patch when your seat is drawn, then you win an extra $400.
Everybody knows that Allen Kessler hates giving away the slightest bit of value, and moments ago his seat was called over the loud speaker. Kessler was not wearing a WSOP.com patch, however, and missed out on $400 of equity. Antonio Esfandiari shouted this out for the entire field to hear, prompting many of the players to burst into laughter, and at the time Kessler was faced with a big river bet for half of his stack against Brandon Meyers.
The board was , and according to Jesse Martin, Kessler check-raised on the flop and then led out on the turn. On the river, he checked to Meyers who flipped out a single pink T5,000 chip. Kessler folded, leaving himself with 11,600 chips, while Meyers now has 35,000.
