Shchemelev Baked

Level 21 : 10,000/20,000, 2,000 ante

Vladimir Shchemelev: {x-}{x-} / {k-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{a-Hearts} / {x-}
David "Bakes" Baker: {x-}{x-} / {a-Spades}{3-Clubs}{j-Spades}{2-Spades} / {x-}

Vladimir Shchemelev completed showing the {K-Hearts} and then called when David "Bakes" Baker raised with the {A-Spades} up. Baker continued on fourth, Shchemelev called and then "Bakes" checked fifth.

Shchemelev took the opportunity to bet only to have Baker wake up with a check-raise. Shchemelev called the raise and then check-called bets on sixth and seventh.

Baker rolled over {8-Hearts}{8-Spades}{4-Spades} for a flush, and it was good as Shchemelev flashed the {k-Clubs}{Q-Clubs} before sending his cards to the muck.

Jose-Luis Velador: {x-}{x-} / {7-Spades}{j-Spades}{8-Clubs}{k-Clubs} / {x-}
Matthew Ashton: {x-}{x-} / {3-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}{8-Hearts} / {x-}

Jose-Luis Velador completed showing the {7-Spades} and Matthew Ashton called with the {3-Spades} up. Velador proceeded to check-call a bet on fourth before leading out on fifth. This time it was Ashton's turn to call, but when he paired his eight on sixth he took the initiative and bet. Velador called and then bet seventh after Ashton checked. The latter made the call but mucked when Velador rolled over {a-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} for aces and sevens.

Richard Chiovari Eliminated in 12th Place ($17,025)

Mike Matusow: {a-Diamonds}{3-Spades} / {8-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{j-Spades}{2-Clubs} / {5-Spades}
Richard Chiovari: {6-Hearts}{2-Hearts} / {8-Spades}{5-Hearts}{7-Spades}{5-Clubs} / {Q-Diamonds}
Yuval Bronshtein: {x-}{x-} / {k-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} Fold

Mike "The Mouth" Matusow limped after another player had brought it in, and Richard Chiovari completed with the {8-Spades} showing. Yuval Bronshtein made the call, as did Matusow, and three players went to fourth street.

Bronshtein was first to act and checked, opening the door for Matusow to bet. Chiovari responded with a raise, Bronshtein folded and Matusow made the call. "The Mouth" then checked fifth, Chiovari bet and Matusow raise. Chiovari only had 4,000 behind and called off.

Chiovari got it in good as far as the low was concerned, but sixth street reversed it as it gave Matusow a better low and Chiovari the high with a pair of fives. Chiovari failed to improve on seventh, while Matusow caught a five to make a wheel and eliminated his opponent.

"I made a wheel and he had two fives in his hand," a smiling Matusow boasted about his good luck.

Marco Johnson: {j-Clubs}{j-Diamonds} / {10-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{3-Spades} / {5-Spades}

Vladimir Shchemelev completed with the {7-Clubs} and then called when Marco Johnson raised showing the {10-Diamonds}. Shchemelev took the lead on fourth and promptly bet, and then did the same on fifth after Johnson called. The man known as "Crazy Marco" called off his last 19,000 on fifth and had the high with a pair of jacks. Unfortunately for him, Shchemelev had a low locked up and took the high lead when he paired his ace on sixth.

Seventh was no help to Johnson and he was eliminated in 13th place for $13,877.
