Cahlik, Small Battle Again

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Sean Small opened to 2,000 from the cutoff, and Josh Cahlik three-bet to 4,700 from the button. The blinds folded, and Small made the call without much thought. The players saw a flop of {4-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}. Small led out 3,900, and Cahlik minraised him. Small mucked his cards, and Cahlik did the same before dragging the pot.

Cahlik Continues Ascent

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Sean Small and Josh Cahlik continue to battle at Table 95. We found them heads up on a board that read {3-Clubs}{k-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}. Small checked from the small blind, and Cahlik bet 3,600. Small made it 7,800, and Cahlik called. The river paired the board with the {8-Spades}, and Small checked. Cahlik checked behind him and showed {k-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}.

"Nice river," Small muttered, showing his {k-}{7-} had been outdrawn.

Trivett Gets a Knockout

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

A short stack was all in with {k-}{j-} against chipleader Michael Trivett's {a-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}. The shortie's fortunes were reversed when {4-Hearts}{k-Clubs}{8-Hearts} hit the flop. The flopped pair proved to be a mere false hope, however, as an {a-Hearts} on the turn left her drawing all but dead. A {10-Clubs} river ended her tournament life, and Trivett added to his room-leading stack.

Holloway's Kings Hold

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

A player in the hijack shoved all in for 18,000, and Chad Holloway woke up with {K-}{k-} in the small blind. He went all in as well, and the big blind folded, leaving him heads up with the hijack, who revealed {j-}{j-}. Holloway's kings held up, sending the hijack to the rail.

Cahlik Gets Called

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

A middle position player and Josh Cahlik were looking at a board of {A-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}. Cahlik checked, the middle position player bet 3,500, and Cahlik came out with a check-raise to 8,500. "Sick," the middle position player said as he tanked. Finally, he called. The turn brought a {7-Diamonds}, and both players checked to see an {8-Spades} river. Cahlik fired 10,400, and his opponent called, showing {a-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}.

"You can't be scarin' me like that," the middle position player said after Cahlik mucked his hand.

Stern Eliminated

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Jason Stern raised in middle position to 2,000 and Carlos Loving called from the button.

Stern checked the flop of {7-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}{2-Spades}. Loving bet 2,400 and Stern called.

Stern checked the {5-Spades} turn. Loving bet 7,000 and Stern moved all in. Loving called and showed {q-Spades}{7-Spades} for two pair while Stern held {j-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}. The {Q-Clubs} gave Loving a full house and Stern was eliminated in 92nd place.
