Hockey Gets a Hat Trick

Level 6 : 200/400, 50 ante

Randy Hockey raised all in for 2,750 from middle position. Chad Holloway, in the cutoff, reraised to 8,500 and the button four bet all in for about 20,000 eventually forcing Holloway to fold his hand.

Hockey showed {4-Spades}{4-Diamonds} and the big blind had {a-Hearts}{a-Spades}. Hockey triples up when he spiked his set on the {7-Spades}{3-Spades}{4-Clubs} flop and the {7-Clubs}{9-Clubs} turn and river did not improve his opponent's hand.

Level 7 : 300/600, 75 ante
Lisa Costello
Lisa Costello

Action began when the cut off raised all-in preflop for 10350 with {k-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}. Lisa Costello, seated in the small blind, made the instant call with {a-Diamonds}{a-Spades}.

Both players were almost even in chips. The board came {4-Spades}{4-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{10-Spades}, and Costello scooped the pot, doubling up to 20650.

Lang's Stack Shrinking

Level 8 : 400/800, 100 ante

We found Ben "Angry African" Lang contemplating a preflop all in from a short stack. Lang, who didn't have his opponent covered by much, finally called.

Lang: {a-Spades}{5-Spades}
Opponent: {q-Clubs}{q-Hearts}

Lang's outlook improved on the {9-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{k-Spades} flop, and the {q-Spades} turn put his opponent on the brink of elimination. "Pair it," the player said as he got out of his seat, seemingly resigned to his fate. He got his wish as the {k-Hearts} hit the river, and he sat back down with his tournament life spared. Lang may be feeling up to his nickname with fewer than three big blinds to his name.

Milkowsky Gambles

Level 8 : 400/800, 100 ante

James Milkowsky raised from middle position to 2,500. The big blind announced all in to the tune of 5,650. After thinking for a short time, Milkowsky announced "I'll gamble" and showed {7-Hearts}{8-Hearts} while the big blind turned over {a-Hearts}{10-Spades}.

The board runs out {3-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{j-Hearts}{k-Spades} and Milkowsky's gamble paid off.

Poon Defends Blind

Level 8 : 400/800, 100 ante

Troy Wilcoxon made it 3,500 to go from the cutoff only to see Tommy Poon reraise to 10,000 from the small blind. The big blind folded, and Wilcoxon thought briefly before saying he believed Poon. Wilcoxon showed {10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} before tossing his cards into the muck, and Poon added to his stack.
